Scientific interestsSystematics, evolution, zoogeography, ecology and conservation of terrestrial molluscs; zoological nomenclature; management of zoological scientific collections; biodiversity inventory and monitoring; protected area science; development of red lists.
Education and qualification1992–2002 – School No. 200, Kyiv. 2002–2007 – Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (=Kyiv State University), Faculty of Biology (now “Institute of Biology”), Department of Zoology. Bachelor’s degree (2006, Biology) and Specialist degree (~MS, 2007, Zoology); qualification: Biology Specialist, Invertebrate Zoologist, Biology Teacher. 2007–2010 – Postgraduate course in I.I. Schmalhausen Institute of Zoology, Kyiv. 2011 – Candidate of Sciences (=PhD; Biological Sciences, specialty: Zoology). Thesis: “Terrestrial molluscs (Gastropoda) of the Ukrainian forest–steppe zone”. 2025 – Doctor of Science (Biological Sciences, specialty: Zoology). Thesis: “Terrestrial molluscs of the East European Plain and Crimean Mountains: systematics, evolution, faunogenesis”.
Professional career2007–2008 – Kyiv Zoo, Section of aquaterrariums and vivarium, Group of herpetology, worker by the care of especially dangerous animals. 2007–2010 – I.I. Schmalhausen Institute of Zoology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv), Department of Invertebrate Fauna and Systematics, postgraduate student. 2010–2014 – same department, junior research scientist. 2014–2018 – same department, research scientist. 2018–curent time – same department, senior research scientist.
Achievements2010-2012 – Scholarship of NAS of Ukraine for the young scientists. 2011 – Commendation of Department of General Biology NAS of Ukraine “For the significant work and considerable contribution to development of national biological science”. 2012-2014 – Scholarship of President of Ukraine for the young scientists. 2013 – Prize of NAS of Ukraine for the young scientists for the series of works “Terrestrial molluscs of Ukraine: distribution, state of populations, conservation”. 2015 – Grant from The Rufford Foundation, project "Conservation of terrestrial molluscs in Ukraine". 2016 – Second grant from The Rufford Foundation, project "Conservation of terrestrial molluscs in Ukrainan grasslands". 2017 (September-December) – DAAD Scholarship, research stays in Zoological Museum of Hamburg University (Malacology Department of Prof. B. Hausdorf) 2017-2018 – Grant from NAS Ukraine, winning in the competition of scientific works of young scientists, project “Terrestrial molluscs of the Red Book of Ukraine: current state of populations and question of adding new species” 2020 – I.I. Schmalhausen Prize of NAS Ukraine for the series of works “Caraboid beetles and terrestrial molluscs of Ukraine and adjacent territories, their biocenotic and practical importance” (together with A.V. Putchkov). 2024 – Personal grant under the "Talents for Ukraine" program of the KSE Foundation.
Professional and environmental activities2002–2007 – Member of the nature conservation student squad of Kyiv University. 2013–2020 – Member of the Scientific-technical council of Polesian Nature Reserve. 2017–curent time – Member of the Mollusc Specialist Group of IUCN Species Survival Commission. 2018–curent time – Expert of the Ukrainian Nature Conservation Group.
